The Villas of Fort Recovery Tortola Beach Resort on Tortola, British Virgin Islands - BVI are on the calm Caribbean side of the island, which creates an excellent swimming and snorkeling area from our small private beach. Built around an original 17th century Dutch Fort, accented with masses of bougainvillea, oleander, hibiscus flowers, & swaying palm trees, these villas offer a superb view of St. John, St.Thomas, Peter Island, and Virgin Gorda, which are easily accessible by a ferry.

3-4 Bedroom Villa: This large beachfront tropical home, beautifully appointed, consists of a central Art Gallery entrance way, a very large living room/library, fully equipped kitchen, a spectacular beachfront master bedroom and bath, two additional oversized bedrooms and spacious baths and a fourth queen sized bedroom - all air-conditioned. The large wrap-around wooden porch on the beach is great for outdoor dining. In the back there’s an open air garden room leading onto the pool and private side gardens. People who frequently visit Tortola, comment that it is the nicest beachfront home that Tortola has to offer.

Two Bedroom Villa: This lovely seaside villa, with superb views, has a large living room, kitchen, two air-conditioned bedrooms, two bathrooms, three patios, and gardens.

One-bedroom villas: These unique seaside villas consist of garden patio, fully equipped kitchen and living room with ceiling fan, air-conditioned bedroom and bathroom creates an appealing relaxed environment. The screened glass doors, which exposes a fantastic view of the Caribbean, extends on to it’s own private sun patio, with lounge chairs.

One bedroom poolside villa: This fully air-conditioned, large one bedroom courtyard house is self-standing. The large wrap-around wooden porch with a corner view of the Caribbean is situated next to the pool. This villa is shingled in cedar with high beamed ceilings, skylight, a very large living room (excellent for additional persons), a kitchen, separate bedroom and bathroom.

Penthouse Villas: State of the art spacious penthouse villas with beamed cathedral ceilings, highly designed interiors provide you with spectacular views of the Caribbean from your private balcony. There are six one bedroom, and one two bedroom penthouse villas. Each has a fully equipped kitchen, living room, and separate air-conditioned bedrooms and bathrooms.

Tortola is an island surrounded by sparkling clear blue waters. Enjoy a day of great sailing aboard one of the many charter boats available for hire. For the sports fisherman, our local waters are internationally acclaimed. World records have been achieved for Marlin, Tuna, and other game fish. Skin divers might call Tortola paradise, while scuba divers will find over thirty of the Caribbean’s most outstanding dive spots, including the wreck of the R.M.S. Rhone.

Beachcombing is always a favorite pastime and passing boats are the object of constant interest. Swimming with the Dolphins, car rentals, windsurfing, kayaks, parasailing, tennis, horseback riding and chartering a boat can all be arranged at our main reception. Take a boat trip to one of the nearby BVI islands such as Norman Island, Peter Island, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke and the U.S. Virgin Islands. You can also visit an 18th century rum distillery, the Botanical Gardens and Mt. Sage Rain Forest.

1. Is Fort Recovery Tortola Beach Resort a good place for a honeymoon?

An article appeared in a well-known Michigan newspaper about two of our honeymoon guests. 2. How do you get to Tortola, BVI.?

From St.Thomas (STT), USVI - 45 minute ferry ride to West End ferry dock on Tortola.
5-minute taxi ride to resort ($4/person). From San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) – Half-hour flight to Beef Island Airport (EIS), Tortola. 40 minutes taxi to the resort ($15/person). Passports: US & Canadian citizens are required to produce proof of citizenship – a passport or birth certificate, and photo I.D. Currency is US ($). Electrical Current is 110 volt.

3. Where are you located in the BVI?

We are on the South/West part of Tortola, directly on the Caribbean Sea. Our small private sandy beach is great for swimming, snorkeling and shelling. The water is safe because on the south shore, undertows and rip tides do not encumber us.

4. What about dining facilities and food provisioning?

Our bright reception area with a covered verandah enables you to relax and enjoy our daily continental breakfast from 7am to 11am. For dinner we have a kitchen with an on-site gourmet chef who has one of the best menus on the island with cuisine ranging from meat, seafood, vegetarian food, and Caribbean specialties. A waiter, elegantly serves dinner to the privacy of your villa, course by course. Big Ben’s superette is a six-minute walk from the property and is open 7am to 10pm daily.

5. What kinds of water sports activities are available?

With each seven night’s stay, Fort Recovery guests receive a half-day snorkeling trip. You can arrange with our on-site captain for extra trips. Our new fabulous dock with two promenades, a large space for sun bathing, and is an ideal spot to jump into the water, and use our fabulous trampoline having a great time bouncing into the sea. There are also many scuba dive shops, sailing vessel day-charters, sport fishing boats, windsurfing, and kayaks, swimming with the Dolphins and parasailing on the island.

6. How do we arrange a car rental on Tortola?

The airport does not have any car rentals. If you pre-arrange a vehicle rental with us either by package or otherwise, the vehicle can be at Fort Recovery for your arrival. The car rental agency will then come to Fort Recovery to do all the paperwork. The vehicle can be dropped off at the ferry or picked up at the resort at your departure. Two hours prior to plane departure a taxi will pick you up and drive you to the airport ($36 per couple).

7. Are your villas beachfront or hillside?

We are one of the few resorts located on the beach with the Caribbean right at our door. We are neither on the hillside nor across the road. There is no hill climbing, nor insurmountable amount of steps to get to your beautifully appointed hideaway. Our villa complex is small, allowing for very personal treatment, and very accessible to our lovely sandy beach.

8. Is there any obstruction with the views from the villas?

The views from your patios and balconies are breath-taking and the sunsets create an incomparable vision that you will always remember. We are known to have the most panoramic views of the Caribbean.

April 15 to Dec. 17, 90 days cancellation notice required for refund within 90 days you are responsible for your entire stay.
